"I told you so!"
Yes, yes, you're right
But please
Let's not quarrel and fight
Everything will be alright
Let's just cooperate
And work together
Don't let your heart get hard
Like dry old leather
We can live and learn
Be tender and yearn
To be sensitive and listen
As we do change will hasten
Humility and grace
Will pave the way
Guiding us what to do and say
Don't let pride get in the way
Neither arrogance that sours the day
Let the sun shine above the clouds
Like Spring in the month of May
Before we explode
Let's kneel and pray
Asking the Almighty to intervene
Alleviate anger so we wont' be mean
Nor alienate one another and demean
Take a deep breath, let off some steam
Not all things in life are as they seem
Remember we are on the same team
TEAM - together everyone accomplishes more
Therefore don't think winning an argument is a score
Driving home a point, beating a dead horse
This is quite the bore, neither does it implore
Affection and loving-kindness that opens the door
Meet me where I'm at by getting off the shore
Enter the depths of my troubles
Help me work through my mess
Avoid pointing the finger and all the fuss
I know at times I make you want to cuss
Doing so however accomplishes nothing
It only divides us bitterly
Building walls between which we cannot see
Engage me from the depths of your heart
Hostility only makes me want to depart
Despite what you feel and think
My Creator made me a work of art
Therefore see the good before throwing darts
"I told you so!" today works for you
But how about when I turn it around on you
What than will you do?
Self-righteousness does not accomplish your goal
Neither does it make either of us whole
So the next time you want to get in my face
Consider that one day you too may need some grace.
