The popularity and importance of strength training is becoming more and pronounced wherever the issue of fitness and health is brought up.

Besides, its immense benefits, perhaps meeting up with an old-friend who is now looking buff might be another reason why one would want to hit the weights.

If these scenarios sound familiar and you are looking to resume working out again, or are a total novice to the process, then it might be time to look for some good tips on proper workouts with weights for beginners.

Well, let's target the specifics:

-As a beginner at weight training routines, it is wise to have a medical check up.

-Always warm-up and stretch prior to your workout, aiming to work within your own limits -

-Perform some kind of cardiovascular exercise for 20-40 minutes AFTER your weight training workout.

-Rest for a full day between your workouts, or alternate the muscle group worked out such as upper body one day, lower body the next.

-Eat a balanced and healthy diet.

-Finally, let it be mentioned that you will do well to add some body-weight calisthenics to your routine.

Briefly, here are my personal favorites:

a. Unlimited Ab-wheel rollouts to failure

b. Unlimited Chin-ups

c. Unlimited Chair dips/ Push Ups

d. Unlimited Pull-ups

e. Unlimited burpees

Now, chances are that mostly guys will be the ones reading this article (although, that really shouldn't be the case as strength training is for all), however, in spite of that fact, one more exercise that can be incorporated into your weight lifting and with good reason will be the use of Yoga or Yoga-esque exercises like Pilates and/or the royal court exercises. As with all things in life though, do try to do the following when you resume or begin strength training:

* Set your goals

* Set a timeframe for your goals

* Figure out how to meet your goals with an exercise program

* Structure your program

Well, good luck with pumping the iron folks.
