House Alarms

In the modern living world having an alarm panel installed in a house is quite a common occurrence. Every house has doors, which not only provide passage into the house but when locked deny access to strangers entering into your property/house. If some-one breaks into your property you need a system that can scream at top of its voice and make your neighbors or you alert of an intrusion. A Burglar alarm would exactly do the job. Let us see how it works.

Alarm panels are connected to detecting devices which are spread out in every room of the house, a keypad is also connected to the alarm panel which can activate/de-activate the alarm panel which is generally installed at a closer distance to your outside door. Before leaving your premises you would type-in the unique code (usually 4 digits) to activate the alarm panel. Once you've entered the code there is a delay of 30-60 seconds before the alarm panel activates and this will give you enough time to get out of the door. Once the panel is activated the detection devices will start looking for any movement (usually through Passive Infra-red or Microwave signals) in their vicinity/range. Detection devices usually can look up to a minimum of 10-12 meters. Should there be an intrusion/break-in, the detection devices sense movement and sends the signal through to the alarm panel, which in turn sends a signal to output device, generally an internal or external siren. The panel is now in an alarm state and can only be stopped when a deactivation code is entered through the keypad or when it is timed out (usually after about 10 min, this can be manually set in some panels).

Each detection device will occupy a Zone in the panel. There are panels available from 2 zones, on some panels the zones can be expanded, but most of the entry level panels are restricted to zones that they already have. There are different types of detection devices that can be used viz., Alarm Sensors on the wall, Door/Window sensors, Glass Break detectors. we will try to cover these products in detail in future.
