Unlike other rooms of the house that already have a purpose, adding a sunroom means adding a living space where the purpose can be anything that comes to mind. A sunroom used to be a space for relaxing and 'getting away from it all'. However, more and more homeowners are choosing to use their sunrooms in any manner that suits their needs. Whether using the space as a kitchen, study, bedroom, workout room or spa, a sunroom has become the multi-purpose space that homeowners are looking to add to their home.

The Common Sunroom Plans

Prior to beginning construction of your sunroom there is quite a bit of research and planning to do. Obviously, you want to buy the best sunroom for your money but sticking to a budget is the best thing you can do for yourself. Various aspects should be mapped out in order to ensure that the project flows smoothly and to prevent unexpected expenses that will put the project over budget. A reliable contractor will make sure that all guidelines are met and all necessary materials are in place before beginning construction.

Styles of Four Seasons Sunrooms

There are four main styles of four seasons sunrooms: straight, curved, cathedral and conservatory.

Straight style sunrooms are basically like patio room enclosures with a few upgrades.

Curved style sunrooms get their names from the wall that curves up to meet the side of the house.

Cathedral style sunrooms have vaulted ceilings that provide a light and airy feel.

Conservatory style sunrooms are sunrooms with a glass roof.

Sunroom Construction

Each style of sunroom is typically insulated with quality materials; meaning durable double paned windows filled with Argon gas are used along with a glazing that prevents harmful ultraviolet rays from entering the room. This allows the homeowner to enjoy the sun without the worry of the suns after-affects and keeps carpets and furniture from fading or discoloring. Each style of sunroom will have the existing ductwork of the home included in its layout and will be seamlessly blended into the architecture of the home. Upon finishing the sunroom it will appear as a natural extension of the home itself.

The room can then be furnished in any manner the homeowner sees fit. As a way of networking services, many sunroom companies and contractors know of furniture companies that specialize in sunroom furniture and will be happy to supply you with names and numbers of those companies when asked.
