Cold Sores Herbal Remedies

You might have tried all sorts of conventional medicines to get rid of your irritating cold sore but nothing seems to be working. Why don't you go the herbal way, also known as alternative medicine? There are various cold sores herbal remedies which include the following;

1.    Black walnut, this is an antiseptic which is high in natural iodine and can be applied on the sore several times in a day. The dried walnut can be taken  orally. The iodine will help the infection heal faster.


2.    Another cold sore herbal remedy may include Lysine an amino acid which our bodies need. However, the body does not    produce it and it gets it from the  proteins that we eat. This may include foods such as meat, fish, chicken, brewer's yeast etc. Lysine and arginine compete for absorption in the intestine, this means therefore that if you have more arginine in your body, they will be absorbed first. These may include, chocolates, pea nut, almonds, oat meal etc It is therefore advisable to reduce the intake of arginine as they  trigger the herpes virus that causes cold sores.

3.    Undaria pinnatifida which is a famous Japanese sea weed known as wakame has also been known to improve the healing process of cold sore. Fresh aloe gel from the leaf applied directly on the cold sore is another herbal remedy. You can drink the aloe juice directly.

4.    Apply neem leaves directly on the infected area. This is going to give you much relieve and your cold sore will be healed within no time. Mixing a drop of grape fruit seed extract with aloe gel or olive oil and dabbing it on the sore will heal it sooner than you expect.
