Wedding Dance: What It Was Like

The newly married couple starts the wedding dance or what is traditionally called the Bridal Waltz at the wedding reception. It is usually nice to see the bride in her flowing Brooklyn bridal gown and the groom in his impeccable formal wear dancing together in the middle of the dance floor. Waltz is not always the dance of choice; it is the couple's option to dance with their favorite love song. The lights are usually dimmed to establish a loving and romantic ambiance.

The wedding dance is an exquisite way to convey an air of sophistication and family togetherness to a magnificently joyous event.

Next on the dance floor is the bride with her father. The groom will then cut in halfway through because this symbolizes the bride leaving her father to join her husband. In some cultures, the groom will dance with his mother. Dances between the bride and the groom's father and the groom and the bride's mother are also popular in some cultures. Following this, the sets of parents swap dances with each other.

The best man then comes forward to dance with the bride while the groom dances with the maid or matron of honor. After all these, the whole wedding party, together with the bridesmaids and ushers join in the dancing festivities. The guests are also invited to dance.
