Most skin care efforts done by people are aimed for the face and neck. If you look at the products that are sold in the market, you will realize that 90% of these skin care and beauty products are for the face, eyes and lips. However, it is important for everyone to know that the skin goes way beyond the face.

Remember, you also need to take care of your arms, body and even you legs. According to studies, however, one part of the body that most people forget about is the feet. But come to think of it, your feet are the ones that carry all your weight while you are walking, standing, skipping and running. Many of the activities you now do will not be possible if your feet are not healthy.

So, if you want to enjoy life to the fullest, you can start by spending more time in taking care of your feet. Here are some of the ways in which you can give your feet a treat:

Exfoliate

Your face and body are not the only places in which exfoliation can be beneficial. Your feet also accumulate dead skin cells so you need to make sure that you slough them off to make the skin of your legs and feet smoother and softer. The ingredients that you need to look for when buying an exfoliation product for your feet include lactic, urea and alpha hydroxy acids. You may also want an exfoliation cream to have tiny beads for more effective scrubbing and sloughing of rough areas in your feet.

Use Sunscreen

Again, many people concentrate on putting sun block or sunscreen on their face. However, if you are wearing shorts, skirts and open shoes or sandals, you ought to put sunscreen on your feet and legs too. In fact, a lot of cases of skin cancer happen in the feet or leg area because people often forget that these areas can also be susceptible to harmful rays.

Thus, do not forget to wear sunscreen, particularly during the summer. Besides, you really need sun protection to prevent wrinkles and premature aging.

Moisturize

During winter, you need to put extra efforts in making sure that the skin on your feet and legs are well hydrated. Even if your feet and legs are not exposed to the snow or rain, they can still be oppressed by the cold and chill. It may be a good idea to find a lotion or moisturizer that has essential oils, such as coconut oil or olive oil. Furthermore, it may be a wise idea to apply the lotion immediately after taking a bath or shower for maximum absorption.

Treat Your Scaly Feet

According to dermatologists, a lot of people are not aware that the scaly skin they see underneath their feet may already be a sign of fungal infection. If after you exfoliate and moisturize you still see scaly skin and dryness on the soles of your feet, you may already be suffering from fungal woes.

Better head to a dermatologist, especially if your feet are smelly, to confirm if you need to take medications for you fungal problem. It is also important to note that fungal woes on your feet can be transferred to your toenails, so you need to be extra careful.

Mind Your Pedicure

Toenails are not meant to be long. Unless you are intending to be in the Guinness Book of World Records as the person who has the longest toenail, you need to trim your nails regularly. You also need to pay attention to slight changes in your toenails. If you see that your nails are easy to break and slightly discolored, you may already be suffering from nail fungus. You can eliminate this problem safely and effectively by using Somasin, an anti-fungal product. For more details about Somasin, visit http://www.somasin.com/.
