Aromatherapy is an alternative therapy for natural healing. It can be used to relax and soothe the mind and body, to energize or even to arouse. This technique makes use of essential oils - the aromatic compounds of plants, extracted through steam distillation or other methods. Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for their health supporting properties. The powerful aromas of essential oils affect your moods and feelings through your sense of smell.

By selecting a particular scent, you can encourage a state of relaxation, romance, healing or comfort. Aromatherapy stimulates your mind and emotions, by using natural herbs and plants for their scents. This is through the use of candles, oils, inhalers, or diffusers. With its ability to affect mood changes, aromatherapy can be used extensively to help you spice up your romantic life.

Some herbs are natural aphrodisiacs, which are used to initiate romantic feelings. Oils from these herbs can enhance excitement and set you in the mood for love. So you can spice up an evening with your date with aromatherapy. Jasmine, Gardenia, Rose, and Geranium are all associated with romance and love. If you would like to encourage the presence of love, think about using these oils in your aromatherapy practices.

You can use aromatherapy candles that are made out of Soy wax. These candles are all natural and will leave no soot behind or have any pollution type materials in them. Jasmine creates a beautifully romantic environment. Jasmine is also a main base for many perfumes.

Gardenia is another exotic and romantic scent. The flower is known for its incredibly fragrant aroma. Gardenia oil may be diluted for use on skin or in your bath. Add ten drops of Gardenia Oil to carrier base oil, such as 1 ounce of Jojoba oil. You may apply this oil directly on your skin. Blending Geranium and Rose can make a beautiful romantic fragrance. This may be the base for your Aromatherapy diffuser, candles, beauty products, perfumes, and even air fresheners.

Warning: Please note that using essential oils directly on your skin without diluting them with carrier oil may cause skin irritations to occur. Always read the safety precautions on the labels of your essential oils before using them.
