Spring - The Season For Waterfalls

If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, then you know that Spring had just begun. This means that days are rapidly becoming longer than nights, the weather is getting warmer, the snow is starting to melt, and storms tend to produce more rain than snow and ice. With the consequent fresh air, blooming wildflowers, abundance of new wildlife, and clear panoramas, there's little wonder why many associate Spring with the outdoors. Take all these factors together and you have yourself a season perfect for waterfalls!

In Yosemite National Park, the melting snow that had accumulated in the Winter on the granite tops of the High Sierras have produced rushing rivers, creeks, and brooks. Many of them perform cliff dives into the park's signature glacially-carved valleys producing the plethora of towering waterfalls that have earned this park the title of California's Waterfall Mecca. Included amongst these towering waterfalls are the world famous Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Fall, Vernal Fall, and Nevada Fall.

In Norway, the icy grip of the darkness of the Scandinavian polar nights rapidly gives way to the longer and warmer days of the approaching midnight sun. This is when the country's mountainous valleys and signature fjords come alive with thunderous waterfalls dumping their melting runoff from vast snow fields and glaciers sitting atop their mountains and plateaus. In some cases, there could be dozens of them visible at the same time!

Even in Hawai'i, Spring occurs in the latter days of the state's wet season. It's when cool and moisture-laden northeasterly trade winds continue to blow and bring their weather to each of the islands' windward side. Not surprisingly, waterfalls abound even in the United States' own version of tropical paradise.

And if you don't live in or near any of the places mentioned above, there are usually local waterfalls to get you into the spirit of the great outdoors. But even if there aren't any local waterfalls, you can still plan for a waterfall excursion abroad to satisfy your wanderlust and get a dose of nature's healing ways.

Indeed, Spring is rich with life and vigor - especially the waterfalls. Isn't it time to put some of that pure and natural positive energy into your own life and go see them?
