House Cleaning

While everyone is holding their breath to see what tomorrow's polling numbers will be for Obama & McCain, what's being overlooked is the political tsunami in the House and Senate. Let's focus just on the House for now. Currently there are 235 Democrats in the House to 199 Republicans (one Independent). Other than Florida's 16th district, home to scandal-plagued Democrat Tim Mahoney, things are looking BLUE- like in Democratic BLUE STATE!

It currently looks like the Democrats have 204 SAFE seats that the contest is over or that there never was a contest to begin. That means that only 31 are being contested. Of the Republican 199 currently held seats, 141 are in the SAFE zone, meaning that 58 are being contested. So, immediately one gets the sense that Republicans have more at stake, have more to lose than do the Democrats

It's more than a sense- it's reality!

Staying away from which ones are "leaning" which way and which one's are a current toss up, let's just go to the end game and make two seemingly SAFE projections:

1-Democrats will GAIN House seats in the November election.
2-The GAINS will be no less than 20, but possible as high as 35!

Thus the House make up for the next two years could show Democrats with a probable 265-169 advantage and in anyone's book that's formidable. How it will exactly wind up probably has to do more with what the stock market does in the last seven trading days than anything else and as I write this before the open on Friday, the 24th, it's looking like a BLOOD BATH is on the way. All RED numbers that will lead to BLUE states.

As a spiritual-futurist, I interpret current events in light of possible macro-universal forces at play leading up to 2012, but not limited to it.
