A performance truck like the Chevrolet Silverado is equipped with advanced features made with tough materials to complement one's varying lifestyles. For the rugged and sportier ones, every component must be working well so as not to pose as a hassle during driving. With the great looks and of the Chevy truck, it may be very prone to outside threats. So it is imperative to have security and safety features like door locks, security alarms, door handles, among others.

Not only providing security and safety, the door panel brings convenience in one's exit and entry from and to the vehicle. Moreover, It has some sub-parts for it to work well, like the integrated door locks, door lock latch and door handles. A must-have in every vehicle, the door handle is necessary for one's comfortable entry and exit to and from the truck. They are situated in the inner and outer door panels so the door can be easily opened or closed after unlocking it or when unboarding the vehicle. It works by releasing the latch.

Since the door assembly is one of the busiest components of the Chevy Silverado Truck, it is not impossible that it would wear out after a long period of time. If in case it does not work properly or not work at all, it is advisable to check if the screws and bolts are lacking. If there are still the presence of lubricants inside but it doesn't work at all, then it is time to replace it.

But without a professional around to fix such a problem, simple do-it-yourself steps are needed to replace the door handle assembly. First, remove the door panel. Remove the screws and the pins with the use of a Phillips screwdriver. After that, remove the door trim by inserting a flat-edged screwdriver between the pull handle and trim. Pull the outer edge of the trim to pry it loose. Remove the plastic liner inside as well the bolts inside the ratchet set. As the bolts are removed, the handle could be moved around. But there is still one more set of bolt and rod inside to be removed. After removing it, then the handle can be pulled out already. Attach the new door handle into place by screwing it with the ratchet set.

After that, test if the door handle fits perfectly. With the screwdriver mimicking the bar which engages when the door is closed, pull the handle. The screwdriver should be released. If everything is working well, start replacing all the parts removed (start with the last removed part like the plastic covering).
