Everyone at some point in there lives deal with stress, especially in this day and age, where stress is at an all time high. Expenses are higher than ever, living costs at an all time max and the credit crunch looming over everyone's head. If that is not enough to get you stressed than I do not know what is.

Stress is a major health concern and one of the big risks that it can pose is potential hair thinning, ultimately ending up with you losing your hair. Stress itself does not actually cause hair loss in its own right. But what does, is the repercussions that stress in its self can bring. What I mean by this, is that if you are stressed, you usually fall into certain habits, which can lead to you losing your hair. Below are a few factors you should try to eliminate when you are stressed.

First and foremost we will have to look at alcohol and cigarettes, when people tend to feel the pressures of the world coming towards them; they usually turn to the solution of tobacco or alcohol. Although it may feel that these substances are helping you get through the situation, it is not the answer. They have more chance of harming you, especially if used over a long period of time, and they are the number one hair loss cause.

Stress also makes some people eat overwhelmingly, by that I do not mean constantly eating, but I mean having a very unhealthy diet. Did you know that having an unbalanced diet can cause you to lose up to 300 hairs a day? You should level out your diet, so that it is rich in protein, and your intake of fats and carbohydrates are low.

Finally people get a lot of habits when they are stressed, as the body is trying to find a way to forget. One of the most dangerous habits for your hair is twiddling. Yes, that is right, there are people that bite there nails, or crack there knuckles, but if you are worried about losing your hair, then you should avoid pulling at it and twirling it, as this will end up giving you dead end which will ultimately fall apart.

So if you are feeling stressed at any time, just go and take a breath of fresh air and maybe buy a stress ball. Before looking for treatment, you may well have to eliminate the causes first.
