Considered as one of the most influential thinkers in the 1960s, Mcluhan predicted world connectivity that would be made possible through a series of electronic circuitry. Even in the early days, man has always strived to fill the gap created by the boundaries of time and space. Conjured by the desire to link and establish a more intimate connection with the world outside his geographical spheres, men traveled the high seas to search for unchartered kingdoms and territories. And what man learned and what man found in these voyages he communicated to the rest of his community so that others would know, so that others would have a better understanding of the world that revolves beyond his geographical confines. As the world progressed, these geographical constraints eventually collapsed. The advent of mass media and the emergence of communication technologies paved the way for a fast and efficient global information network.True enough, electronic media has kept mankind up to date with the rest of the world without the need of ones physical presence at a certain place and at a certain point in time. While print media is still widely used today to convey news and current events from around the globe; radio and the television have become more popular forms of media because of the ability of these channels to broadcast international events when it happens, where it happens; thus facilitating a faster transfer of information to as many people all over the world in a matter of seconds. However, the global village concept became a reality in December 2005, when the internet was first introduced into the mainstream.
