The demand of fast speed, reliable, low cost and efficient backup storage medium is increasing as the applications related to internet and database need more space for storage purpose with lower downtime for operations on the data. In such conditions the LTO ultrium tape format brings out the best and low cost solutions to meet the above stated requirements. Fuji LTO data tapes serve all the requirements of enterprise computer systems, network servers and similar other working environments with increasing storage and transfer rate demands.

The LTO Ultrium-3 cartridge from Fuji has excellent features with 40 to 80 MB/s of transfer rate and 400 GB of recording capacity (native). The Fuji LTO cartridge has memory chip of 4KB. This LTO-3 tape cartridge has enhanced durability, archival application with low level of error rate. The Fuji ultrium-3 tape format protects the investment due to its backward compatibility which allows the users access to the LTO-1 and LTO-2 tape archives. The critical and valuable data is kept safe by the WORM technology that enables secure storage and backup of the information for regulatory and legal compliance.

The base film is composed of poly-ethylene naphtha late (PEN) which makes it very smooth and reduces the noise levels. All these features ensure high density for the recording of data. The poly-ethylene naphtha late base film helps to achieve superior archival storage and more accuracy in the data recording. Dimensional stability is improved due to the PEN film during the operation of tape drive. Fuji LTO-3 ultrium output is extremely high with improved stability for reading & writing of signal.

The Fuji ultrium LTO-4 has enough space in its small tape cartridge to hold 1600GB (compressed data) and 800GB (native data). Its transfer speed is also very high (120MB/sec, native). The advanced and powerful technologies by Fuji improve the performance and output of the LTO tape format. The Fuji's new technologies included in the LTO-4 tape format are the "NANOCUBIC" and "servo writing" that make the Fuji LTO more rigid and reliable. NANOCUBIC technology enables the LTO-4 tape cartridge to enhance its storage space to hold 1.6TB compressed data. The width of the tape is 12.65 nm and it records 896 tracks. It also uses the recording technology of multi channel with which the native transfer speed of 120MB/s is achieved.

The high performance level of the LTO tape format heavily depends on the servo control of high precision and timing based. Servo tracks used by LTO cartridge are dual, that are written along length of its data bands. There are 4 data bands. It helps in redundancy and fine placement of control in case the tape damages. NANOCUBIC ensures smooth surface of tape that prolongs the lifetime of tape head and decreases the errors.

Fuji LTO4 tape format has 256 bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm for keeping the valuable and critical data secure. This encryption mechanism provides higher security level during the transportation and storage of sensitive data. The advantage of the LTO-4 is the WORM mechanism that helps to store the information in format of non rewritable so that the compliance needs can be addressed with low cost. The ultrium cartridges can be protected against humidity, dust and shocks by use of library pack. Library pack is a safe and secure solution for data archival and storage providing quick and easy piling, carrying and unpacking.
