The Future Of Search Engine Optimisation

Have you ever wondered about the way in which people will be promoting their websites in the years to come? What do you think will be important in the eyes of the search engines in the future? Which seo techniques can we start to use today which will help our websites to flourish in the future? In this article I am going to write about what I believe will be the future of website promotion. I am currently using these thoughts and opinions on my own websites and am already witnessing some quite incredible results.

Two or three years ago the big watch word was backward links. I, as I am sure many people were advised, was told that you need to obtain as many backward links to your websites as possible. It did not seem to matter about the quality of these links, with quantity as seemingly being the be all and end all.

Many automated programs were launched such as linkmetro. These provided what seemed like the perfect solution, a way of obtaining links without hardly any hassle at all. I was always very wary of such schemes and believed that search engines like Google would be quick to fight back.

Many sites were able to quickly build up large numbers of backward links, but how many of the sites in programs such as linkmetro were what I call authority sites? Surely a top quality website would not even consider to swap links in this way, and they weren't.

Then there was what is called article submission software which enabled people to submit their article to up to one hundred article directories. This of course is another way to build up your backward links in a very swift manner.

Quality is the future, not quantity. You may well have ten thousand links from pr2, pr3 and pr4 sites, however a couple of links from sites of trust, sites that have been around for a number of years and who themselves have other sites of trust also linking to them, this is what will be important.

Now yes it is not easy to obtain such links and nor should it be. This is why your website should be updated on a regular basis and have original content, content which is of use to the reader.

Writing articles will always be of value but the number of authors has increased in a big way which ultimately means that your article is less likely to be seen and used on other people's sites.
