LCD HDTV is an evolving technology. It is a television that is made by using the liquid crystal display technology. LCD technology makes high definition images. LCD's are thinner, lighter and have large sized displays as compared to CRT's. LCD's are having a wide range of usage and their low cost makes them a better option for many people.

LCD's are having a lot of advantages as compared to normal TV's. LCD TV provides you with a larger screen size. They give a sharp, clear and highly responsive image. Moreover, these give high quality crisp colors which make the LCD's worth watching. LCD HDTV has got a screen that has a matte like finish. Normal TV displays require no or less light in order to view the TV properly. With an LCD you don't have to reduce the light for good quality picture. You don't need to be in a dark room to enjoy your TV. Just turn on your LCD TV and you can enjoy the high quality picture irrespective of the amount of light present in the room. LCD TV uses a very low amount of electrical energy and can save a lot of running cost. LCD TV is available in a wide range of sizes. LCD's are available from 5 inches to 65 inches higher. You can select the size that best suits your room and your tastes. LCD TV's can be mounted on the wall. With this option you can have more free space in the room and its looks stylish and modern.

Disadvantages:

Apart from the above mentioned advantages of the LCD TV, there are a number of disadvantages as well. The first made LCD's were used for data display without any need of fast refreshing rates. This problem is still present in the present LCD TV's. The fast moving objects look disturbed and the quality gets disturbed at this point. The present LCD's are improved in this perspective and they provide good quality pictures but this is available in screens that are of the size less than 35 inches. LCD's are unable to completely support black colors. LCD HDTV has a small viewing angle. The quality is good when you are straight in front of the display. When you start to move away from the screen the picture is not very well. LCD's get a bit costly when it gets to 35 inches or larger and the 16:9 products.

Maintenance:

LCD's can easily get damaged or scratched therefore a lot of care is required for its maintenance. Cleaning is important for the LCD but it's essential that you don't touch the surface of display. Cleaning solutions can be used for cleaning the display but not all solutions are friendly for the LCD surfaces. Cleaners like Acetone, Ethyl Alcohol or Methyl Chloride etc can damage the screen. You can take a soft cloth that does not scratch the surface of display. You can use water, vinegar which is mixed with water, isopropyl Alcohol or Petroleum Benzene. Before buying any cleaner, make sure that it is friendly for your display.
