Contract phones are phones available with a contract period. They have a number of advantages and disadvantages both. Still, they are the most common phones in today's times.

Contract phones, as suggested by the name, are phones that come with certain contracts. These are provided to the users for a particular amount of contract time. Users can't switch their network providers within that contract time and they have to serve the contract period which can vary from six months to twenty four months and can sometimes even extend to more than twenty four months time.

These types of phones can be availed at cheaper than actual market prices. With 'cheaper than market prices' I mean to say that they are available at a lesser price than the brand has marked it for. Actually, it is such that all the network providers have some kind of tie ups with the brands. Due to this, the costumer has to pay very less cost at the beginning and the rest is paid up slowly by the provider, which the user will be actually paying during the contract time. Due to the gradual payment, and that too not for the handset but for the network service, the users never feel the burden of this payment.

The contract phones are mostly preferred by the businessmen and other people who have to do too many calls. These phones have very low tariff rates and come with great benefits. These benefits include the free gifts for the users and there also are other kinds of benefits offered in the forms of a certain number of free minutes to call, certain number of free text messages, and many more similar things. The free gifts provided with contract phones are of different types such as the Xbox, playstations, laptops, digital TVs and a lot more.

Other type of phones are the Pay as You Go Phones which are available without any contract period. These don't have you to serve any contract period which finds you with the freedom to change the service provider any day you want. You have to pay whenever you want to make calls and the balance left is carried forward to the next call.

The contract phones are available at all online stores and can be bought from any of them. You can easily find one store on the web, then go through the handsets they provide as contract types, choose the brand and brand's handset you like and lastly, the type of gifts if any is provided. These are always liked by the people who want to purchase a high end gadget for a very low price. Also those people who want to do too much talking and too much calling to their relatives and friends prefer these phones for their use. The only thing bad about them is that if you change your place of stay too much, you won't be able to change your network provider with the same frequency due to presence of the contract.

All these have been the reasons for the popularity of the contract phones but you should only choose it if you find it beneficial for you and not go after the its popularity.
