Many people have seen the television ads for Dyson vacuum cleaners or have heard stories from friends that have their own Dyson. For those considering taking the leap and purchasing a Dyson vacuum cleaner, however, deciphering from among the various models can be a bit confusing. In the end, the question consumers really want answered is "Just how do Dyson vacuum cleaners rate against one another and how do I choose the one that is best for me?"

A Matter of Personal Choice

Obviously, selecting the right Dyson vacuum cleaner depends largely upon the consumer's lifestyle and needs. Each of the vacuum models is designed with a specific purpose in mind. That way, the Dyson engineers can effectively create a vacuum that fulfills those needs to the fullest. Therefore, it is important for consumers to consider their personal lifestyle and needs when attempting to determine which is best for them.

The DC07 Dyson Vacuum

The DC07 Dyson vacuum cleaner is one of the most basic models in the Dyson series. As with all Dyson vacuums, it features the root cyclone technology that differentiates Dyson from other types of vacuum cleaners. Like all other Dyson vacuums, it also offers the HEPA filtration system. In addition, it is the only model to have the reversible wand. All of the other models offer the telescopic wand instead.

The DC14 Dyson Vacuum

The DC14 Dyson offers the wide channel feature, which makes it possible to cover larger areas of space at one time. The DCI4 includes a curved crevice tool to help it reach under and around objects. It is also one of the lighter models, though there is no significant difference in weight from one Dyson to the next. This particular model weighs 18.6 pounds while the lightest model, the DC18, weighs 15.7 pounds.

The DC15 Dyson Vacuum

The DC15 Dyson includes the innovative ball technology that allows it to glide and to pivot easily over the floor. It also offers the motorized brushbar and the wide channel. Like the DC14, it also includes the curved crevice tool.

The DC17 Dyson Vacuum

The DC17 Dyson offers the same features as the DC15, but does not include the ball. In addition, it includes the Level 3 Root Cyclone, which is better capable of filtering the sand and dust particles from the airstream.

The DC18 Dyson Vacuum

The DC18 is the lightest of the Dyson vacuums and does not offer the wide channel feature found with most of the other models. In addition, it does not feature the Level 3 Root Cyclone, but does offer the ball feature. The large brush and the crevice tool, which are standard features on Dyson vacuums, have also been combined into one tool on the DC18.
