Avoid the Agony of Costly Purchasing Mistakes

We've all heard the phrase ‘Buyer Beware!' But how many of us actually heed this warning? Consumers make purchases every day not knowing exactly what it is that they have bought.

So how does a buyer ‘beware'?

In the case of a new building kit purchase - as with any large ticket item - you will need to complete your ‘due diligence' (another phrase that we are all familiar with) before you buy.

Now, let's break down what this actually means. When checking the dictionary or thesaurus, we find that ‘due' can mean suitable, proper, correct or appropriate. Using the same resources, ‘diligence' can mean thoroughness, attentiveness, carefulness or meticulousness.

Put together, we find that the phrase can be translated to:
Suitable thoroughness,
Proper attentiveness,
Correct carefulness,
Or
Appropriate meticulousness.

Now I know that these terms are not terms that you would use every day, but together they do send a vivid message... Do Your Homework Before You Buy!

I have preached this message on my websites - at the risk of losing sales - whether you are purchasing a new metal building kit or buying a cruise vacation package. It applies to appliance purchases and (as every professional tradesman knows) the purchase of tools and equipment. Good vendors like an informed customer.

Get competitive prices or quotes for your purchase. Dissect the information and compare what is being provided by each of the vendors. If there is something added that you are unsure of, ask the vendor. If something is not included by one of the vendors but is supplied by others, check out why.

What I am saying here is this: The cheapest price may actually cost you more money.

That's right. If something is missing and has to added later, it normally costs you much more than it would have cost if it were included in the first place.

If something is wrong, it will definitely cost you more to fix the problem.

If your desired use is restricted because of an inferior product, you have wasted your money.

If your metal building kit is designed for a use other than what your needs are, you may be wasting hundreds or thousands of dollars.

If your cruise vacation has an itinerary that does not appeal to you, it's not a deal. If the stateroom is not what you want, you may not enjoy your vacation...

I could go on and on with different scenarios, but I think you get the picture. Research your purchases - no matter what they may be. Get competitive prices or quotes. Compare the quotes carefully.

Only then can you make an informed decision and be satisfied that you have done your ‘Due Diligence'.
