Bookends: The Secret To Your Books' Long Life

Are you constantly finding yourself cravings for books - and more books? If so, you might have already been a VIP member of your local bookstore and have been putting your name on top of the waiting lists of international bestsellers. You may already have a complete collection of the Harry Potter series, or the Twilight Saga.

Your love for books could certainly take you a long way. Not only will your horizon broaden, but you will also be able keep yourself entertained on days when everything seems like a standstill. The only problem is: how do you keep all these hardbound copies of Judith McNaught's, Paulo Coelho's and Dan Brown's? This dilemma becomes more pronounced if you don't have a large house that can accommodate your personal library.

You don't have to fret though as there are always little things that you can do to preserve your well-loved books. Among these ways is one that will not cost you so much as this pair comes cheap: bookends.

Bookends do more than just to hold your books together. Here are a few more things that this seeming useless pair of metal (or marble, or wood) can provide you with:

1. Bookends can keep your books organized.

Surely, after you are done with a certain book, you would not be immediately reading it again. Unless it is something that has kept your interest to the extreme high, then it would still be a matter of months - or even years - before you'll find the need to read it again. So instead of placing your books in every corner of your room, why not put them in one place. Better yet, instead of piling them, keep them upright and support them with bookends. This way, it is easier for you to locate a certain book.

2. Bookends are a cheap way of displaying your collection.

Accept it, anyone who is fond of books will always be thought of highly. Now you may not be envisioning yourself to be seen as a nerd but there surely is nothing wrong if you display your books. After all, you have spent hundreds - if not a fortune - for them. Bookends will efficiently replace shelves. The latter are expensive and would take a lot of space in your room.

3. Bookends allow you to display your creativity.

If you have given yourself ample time to scout for a wide variety of bookend styles, then you'll realize that they are more than just a boring pair of colored metal. Yes, bookends also come in other designs and are made from different materials (e.g. marble, wood). If you are hardworking enough, you can even find bookends that have very intricate and colourful designs.

Books are important - regardless if they are merely reference books or some action-packed novels. They provide you with useful information and they keep you company when you feel that life has been such a drag. They are also insightful but silent companions in long queues or on coffee breaks.

Therefore, it's important to properly take care of them. After a few decades, they'd belong to the classic genre and by then they'd be hard to find. Of course, to make them still usable after a couple of years, you need to preserve them - and the simplest and probably the cheapest way of preserving them is through the use of bookends. With bookends, your precious hard-bounds and paperbacks will surely enjoy a long lifespan.
