You hear stories of people being victimized by crime almost every day. This could mean a number of things. Perhaps the media is simply paying more attention to crime, maybe crime rates are in fact increasing or maybe not enough people know how to defend themselves. Self defence training is just as important as any other aspect of life. In fact, it should be taught in schools early on, but those days are far away. So the next best thing we can do is ensure that our family members all know the basics of self defense training and how to incorporate them into their lives.
Until you or someone you love is the victim of a violent crime, you cannot possibly fathom how it feels. But when the unthinkable happens, you will certainly be shaking your head and wondering why you never took the time to learn how to defend yourself. This is what happened to Close Combat Training owner Chris Pizzo. Many years ago, he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer. This obviously left him very weak, and in a vulnerable position. In a case of mistaken identity, he and his wife were brutally attacked. He was helpless in defending either him or his wife and they were almost killed. Thankfully, the police happened to notice what was happening and came to arrest the culprits. However, the feeling of helplessness changed him forever, and he decided to dedicate his life to helping other's learn self defence training.
Pizzo traveled for many years all over the world, studying different types of martial arts and street fighting techniques. He noticed that there were certainly values in all of the different types, but it took him awhile to find something that was perfect. When he stumbled upon hand to hand combat, he was hooked. He knew that this strategy was the key to self defense training, for a number of reasons. The most important reason is that it is a technique that is not size dependent. Meaning, anyone of any size can use these strategies to defend themselves in a violent situation. That means small men, women and even children. This alone set this type of combat training above and beyond the rest.
Since then, Pizzo has dedicated his life to bringing this information to the world. He envisions a world where everyone is able to stand up to violent criminals and take the streets back. Of course, that will likely never happen, but person by person, he is making a difference. He's tired of criminals having the right of way on the streets, and simply won't stand for it any longer.
And the great part about his training style is that you can learn it all from the comfort of your own home through a series of DVD's. So that eliminates any excuses of time or money, because you can do it any time you have free time and it will cost a fraction of the cost of enrolling in a class.
