There are different kinds of yeast infections that can affect a person, with the most common being the vaginal yeast infection. The other kinds of yeast infections are penile yeast infections, mouth yeast infections and skin yeast infections. All are easily passed on through person to person contact. For example, penile and vaginal yeast infections are passed on through sexual intercourse. Yeast infections that affect the skin are passed on in pretty much the same way, through contact with someone who has been affected. If you know that you have a yeast infection, or someone close to has one, these are a few tips that will help you handle the situation better.

First and foremost, don't share bath towels or clothes. This is one of the easiest ways to pass on a yeast infection. After you have a bath and are drying yourself off, pat yourself dry, as opposed to rubbing on your skin. Your skin might be tender or irritated, and this reduces any abrasion or friction. When you do your laundry, separate your clothes, and for the person with a skin yeast infection, you should try to soak their clothes in boiling water. This should actually be done even for a while after they are healed, to make sure all traces are gone.

Unlike vaginal yeast infections for which you can get over the counter medication, you need to get doctors prescription to treat yeast infections affecting the skin. You can also go for homeopathic remedies, but always consult your doctor to make sure that you won't react to the mix of medications. Taking these factors into consideration could help you heal faster and better manage your skin yeast infection.
