Tapestries have been a part of the history of decoration all the way to the years of the B.C. era where they adorned the walls of castles and empires of those in power. The works of art are rich in history and have progressed throughout the ages to become a corner stone of every different era of enlightenment. With the onset of the fifteenth century, many European nations began to take hold of the production of this particular art and during this time the world would see some of the most vibrant and intricate forms of wall hangings that human kind has ever seen. Along with their exotic weaves, some of the more formal works contained strands of gold filament woven into their canvas, making them valuable beyond simply personal means.

Mass Production Means More Availability

During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, the countries of Europe began to see a textile industrial revolution in the form of factories where cloth and other textiles were produced in mass quantities. It was during this time that tapestries became not only an item for the rich and powerful, but other classes of people were able to enjoy the work of art as well. Although during this time these pieces were being produced in mass numbers, many still chose to hand weave their works and these customized or hand crafted forms of art would begin timeless in their value to history.

However, it was at this time that the tapestry became available to all and many of modest means were able to afford the items of art traditionally only available to those of wealth and upper class status. People of varying class status began to afford some types of home décor.

Now Commonplace Throughout The World

With most nations in the world experiencing the technological revolution, things such as textiles and other forms of art have taken on whole new form of availability. Of the present, many people are using tapestries to adorn the walls of their homes and offices, using many different styles that they have to choose from in all corners of the globe. For instance, one who lives in a state such as Arizona or New Mexico will have access to hand crafted tapestries that depict the colors and landscapes of the southwestern deserts. However, these same works can be found in places such as Western Europe as well due to the fact that people have varying styles and tastes as well as shipping becoming trans global.

How Expensive Are Tapestries

Tapestries can come in many different shapes and sizes and the price of one work over the other simply depends on what type of materials were used and whether it was mass produced or hand crafted. As a general rule, hand crafted and customized works are much more expensive but also have a greater monetary value and well as emotional sentiment. Basically, it comes down to the individual and how much he or she wishes to spend on their particular purchase.
