Boro: Entertaining But What Does The Future Hold

In my opinion, out of all the teams in the Premiership, Middlesbrough must be the strangest team to support. When I say this I mean I just don't have the foggiest idea what fans expectations are going into a new season and what constitutes success for the club.

They've always entertained me whenever I've watched them on the television and have a decent tradition of playing open, attacking football. They're probably even more famous for having one of the worst away records in the Premiership. I'm a Wolves fan and in our sole season in the top division, everyone agreed that if we didn't beat Boro at home, we might as well not even bother (we beat them 2-0 but still went down).

Their current squad is certainly capable of competing with anyone and they have some real quality throughout the spine of their side. Viduka and Yakubu are an intriguing pair up front, and I'm always interested to see what they produce between them in terms of performances and goals. They have a tendency to go from the sublime to ridiculous on a game to game basis - which I suppose sums up my opinion on the Middlesbrough team.

They won the League Cup a few seasons back and I'd love to see Boro get back to a final, simply because I think (on their day) they have the ability to ruffle the feathers of the Premiership big hitters -as illustrated by their splendid win over Chelsea at the start of the season.
