How to Train Using a Self Defense DVD?

When you're too busy to commit to an hourly training session at the gym on a weekly basis, your best method for learning self defense might be to train using a self defense DVD. However, you shouldn't just blindly select a DVD and jump right into a training program you know nothing about. Use these suggestions as a guide for selecting the right DVD will help you find a program and stick with it.

1.Pick something you are interested in trying. Do you like military self defense programs, combat self defense, martial arts and competitive sports, or a program designed specifically for a certain age group? There are training methods available for men, women, children, and even seniors.

2.Prepare your body with physical conditioning. Going from no physical activity to a daily training method can take a physical toll on your body. Make sure that prepare your body by starting out slow. Make stretching a part of your routine, and do cross training whenever possible. Work up slowly to the level of conditioning you want to achieve.

3.Do a little research. Before you buy the self defense DVD, check to find out what kind of credentials the instructor has obtained of the course of his or her career. You get honest feedback from real people, not just a bunch of marketing hype. Use the information to help you decide whether the DVD will be a worthwhile investment or a waste of your time.

5.Once you've selected a program, stick with it. Every self defense DVD should tell you the amount of time required to train every week. It's a good idea to stick with those recommendations. 6.Eat right. Good nutrition is important.
