Without generating reasonable levels of traffic to your website, you are dead in the water. The more traffic or visitors you get to your website, the more likely you are to make a sale or get a click through- provided you display useful and enticing content on your website. The good news is that some of the most effective means of traffic generation are free and easy to do- here they are:

1) Write Articles

Article marketing drives targeted traffic to your websites and also improves your search engine ranking results. Firstly you need to decide on an angle of your niche to write about, secondly devise a list of keywords that are highly relevant to your niche, finally write an article (ideally) between 500-700 words. Once you have written your article, submit it to article directories (the best are ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com). I know this sounds like a lot of work however it will pay off in the long term. What you are essentially doing is presenting yourself as an expert on your chosen field or niche. It is not hard to become an expert- you could spend 20-30 minutes researching article directories and forums for information on your niche which you could then summarise in your article.

2) Blogging

Blogging is a great way to drive more targeted traffic to your money site. For example at blogger.com you can set up a blog on a chosen topic within minutes, adjust the layout and content, then finally ping you blog (announcing its existence via the web) automatically. Your blog should act like a ‘portal' to your main website. What you are essentially doing is placing another funnel on the web to drive traffic to you website.

3) Write Press Releases

Online Press Releases are a reasonably new addition to the internet marketer's web arsenal. An online press release is essentially a relevant brief news story which is this broadcasted via online news channels. Many companies have boosted their sales between 100%- 300% by using press releases alone, and now you can too! The most important aspects of writing a successful release are to be professional, concise (300-500 words), describe your story accurately (Who, What, Where When and Why), and provide interesting and enticing examples. Best of all it is reasonably simple to find free press release sites, so you can get your news out fast and free.

4) Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking has been around a while, but has recently risen in popularity as a means of driving free targeted traffic to one's niche. Social Bookmarking allows a website owner to bookmark their website via a Social Bookmarking directory including relevant tags (or keywords) which users can then search for and add to their favourites. Social Bookmarking works in the following way: a visitor finding your content interesting will bookmark your site seeing it rise in popularity resulting in more bookmarks, you will get free traffic as this process builds momentum, you may receive one-way backlinks from other people websites (the best way to increase your search engine rankings with Google).

The above 4 methods are what I have found to be the most effective way of driving fast free traffic to my websites. Treat this article as an overview to these methods- success will only come with experimentation and refining your skills.
