Can eGovernment Help the Obese eCitizen Lose Weight by Providing Proper Information?

In the United States of America we have a weight problem, obesity challenge and it is reaching epidemic or pandemic proportions, literally. What can the government do with their online web sites to get more information to citizens to help them eat better and exercise more? It seems that simple tips of eating healthier and ways to get people who are overweight to start working out a little make a lot of sense.

Will eGovernment Online Initiatives take up this calling and provide proper information to help the eCitizen to cross this "diabetes divide" between healthy people and overweight or obese citizens? Is this really government's responsibility? Will our government take it upon its self to help people lose weight so that they do not over eat and cause us all increased health costs later?

It would make sense in the long run to spend a little money now to help the citizens get thinner and healthier than to spend billions of dollars later in health-care costs that are really not necessary. Will food companies lobby the United States government to prevent such information from going online? Will the government due to extreme cost of healthcare start regulating what we eat is citizens and taking the rights away from us?

Sometimes people do not look very far in the future to see the problems that socialism and socialized medicine can cause, they are only looking at the upside. It would be nice if we can head these problems off at the pass by preventing people from getting fat in the first place and that is my opinion. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007.
