The amount of diseases that are spread due to water contamination is increasing in recent times to an alarming extent. Therefore, many people are turning to bottled water because it is pure and safe to use. The bottled water available is somewhat different than any other form of water. It has several advantages and some of them are discussed blow.
In most cases, bottled water is a highly superior drink choice than the commonly available tap water at your kitchen sink. Although tap water is deemed safe by each municipality, suppliers of bottled water have to go through many additional tests and regulations. These regulations must either exceed or meet the rules already formed by EPA. These rules are then enforced by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
Although there has been a lot of discussion about bottled water being just as suspect as the water coming out of your tap, or perhaps even worse, this is not generally the case. A bottled product may start out as simple tap water, but what you buy from the shelves of your grocery store, or drug store, has gone through many more levels of purification.
Even water obtained from springs or other natural sources goes through these extra treatment and cleaning processes. In other words, the net result is that consumers are getting safer and cleaner products than the public supply is usually able to supply.
Sometimes cross-contamination with swimming pools, a tanker truck discharge or other such accidents may happen in government run water utilities. Backflow might also take place when the water pumped from a public water source is unexpectedly sucked back. However, as far as the bottled water is concerned, these issues seldom arise.
Some of the companies selling bottled water are also members of the organization known as International Bottled Water Association. The rules and regulations of this organization are even stricter. Therefore, the members under this organization have to produce completely safe as well as pure water. To retain their membership, the suppliers agree to sudden, unannounced annual inspection visits to their plants.
Apart from the safety issues, bottled water simply has a better taste. It is free from chemicals, impurities and when infused with oxygen, the taste of this water naturally improves. When you crack open a cold one, remember to check whether the seal of the cap is broken or not. If it is broken, water your plants with it.
Some folks point out that plastic bottles are potentially an environmental hazard. However, the plastic can be crushed and completely recycled. In some parts of the world, there is simply no better choice than the convenience and safety of bottled water, after all, drinking wine all the time has its disadvantages too.
