You only get one chance to make a first impression. I know that it sounds like a cheesy cliché, but you really would be surprised if you only knew how true that saying really is. We live in a world where often times you are judged first on your looks then your brains. We are judged constantly throughout the day by the way we present ourselves.

First impressions are especially important during the job interview process. All of the degrees in the world won't help you land a job if you show up looking like a slob in dirty clothes and appearing as you are not taking the interview seriously. The interviewer is going to pay attention to everything. Be sure to dress importantly and look prepared.

Your makeup is very important. Date makeup is different than job makeup. You want it to be simple yet sophisticated; smart yet natural. Leading beauty experts are here to help you with some of the leading makeup tips to use during a job interview.

If you decide on getting a facial, do it at least three days before the interview. Job interviews are stressful and a facial aids your skin's detoxification processes. It's not uncommon to have breakouts after a facial. Those few days after the facial allow your skin to calm down and display a fresh look for your meeting.

Don't rush. By taking the time to blend your foundation and blush can help you calm down and avoid accidents such as spills mascara, too heavy of a foundation application and other mishaps that arise from nerves and shaky hands.

Tweeze and/or trim stray facial, eyebrow and nose hairs. You don't want an interviewer focusing on a stray eyebrow or even worse, a renegade nose hair.

Since eye contact is immensely important in a job interview, avoid applying eye makeup that is too heavy. A nice, matte, neutral brown, beige, soft plum or grey with little or no liner will convey a better message of professionalism than a lot of shimmer and smoke.

Go easy on your mascara while you're at it, too. Be sure to comb out your lashes to avoid clumping, clotting, and any flaking.

Soft pink blush, applied lightly on the apples of your cheeks will give you a fresh look. You don't want to give off that "made-up" look. This is a job interview, not a night out in the club!

Be sure to take blotting tissues with you. Since nerves encourage perspiration, than I'm sure you'll be sweating it out a little bit. It's perfectly normal.

When applying makeup, keep in mind that most lighting is fluorescent and can accentuate any green or orange tones. Try to choose colors from neutral to pink palettes for the best look.

Keep your lip color as close to your own as possible. You can get away with one shade darker, maybe. Use matte, not gloss. Lip gloss on an interview looks kiddy and silly. You want to be taken seriously, after all.

Lastly, look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a little pep talk.

Hopefully, these tips will help you to relax and feel more confident before the big day. Just remember, what you have to say during the interview is much more important than how you look. Good luck!
