It is often observed that it is the mother who is showered with all the love and affection of the children rather than the father, who does not always enjoy the same. This happens because the father is always on the run working hard to provide his family with the best living conditions. It is also that men are not as expressive in showing their love as women. It is time that we show a little more appreciation and affection towards our father for all the things that he has done for us. Father's day would be the best time to express our love towards our father and show him how much we care for him. Some ways of showing your gratitude would be to offer him a nice weekend getaway, a dinner, some personalized jewellery etc. there are numerous Fathers Day Gifts that you can choose from depending upon his likings or you can just spend the day with him doing the things that he loves.

Father's day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year in different countries around the world. It is the day which celebrates fatherhood and emphasizes the role of the father in the family structure. It is believed that Father's day came into existence when Sonora Dodd from Spokane, Washington after listening to a Mother's Day Sermon in the church, thought that there should be a day to commemorate Fatherhood. She lost her mother at the age of 16, after which she along with her five siblings was raised single handedly by her father. Hence she proposed for a Fathers Day Celebration to appreciate Fathers like hers. Then on 19th June, 1910 she organized a felicitation program in her town to honour fatherhood. It took time for the tradition to catch on, but later was recognized officially after many trials and tribulations in 1924 by the recommendation of US President Calvin Coolidge.

The father is the head of the family and is responsible to fulfill all their needs. He is the one who maintains the discipline and decorum in the family and is the idol of his children. For a child, a father is someone who will always be there for him or her in any given situation. So wouldn't you like to show your respect and love to the person who has been responsible in moulding your life and the one who has been instrumental in shaping your dreams?

An emotional message with a simple gift will prove to be a great way to celebrate your relationship with your father on his special day.
