Germany is also known as the Republic of Germany and is a country located in Central Europe, bordered to the north area by the North Sea, Denmark and Baltic Sea, on the east side is bordered by Poland and the Czech Republic, on the south area is bordered by Austria and Switzerland and nevertheless on the west area is bordered by France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. Germany's territory covers an area of 357,021 km˛ and also has a temperate seasonal climate. Germany has over 82 million inhabitants making it the largest population of any member state of the European Union besides Germany is also home to the third largest number of international migrants in the world.

Berlin is the capital and largest city of Germany. Germany is another European country member of the United Nations. Besides being a member of the United Nations, Germany is also a member of the following:
- NATO
- The G8
- The G4 nations
- The Kyoto protocol

Germany's economy occupies the third place worldwide by nominal GDP and is also the largest goods exporter in the year 2007. The second biggest annual budget of development aid in the world allocates in Germany while its military expenditure ranked 6th. Germany is a country that has developed a living on high standards besides establishing a comprehensive system of social security. Another important fact is that Germany is also recognized as a scientific and technological leader in several fields.

Talking a little bit of Germany's culture, it has been shaped by major intellectual and popular currents in Europe, both religious and secular. As a result, it is difficult to identify a specific German tradition separated from the larger framework of European high culture. The fact of these circumstances is that some historical figures such as Frank Kafka, Mozart, and Paul Celan, must be seen in the context of the German cultural sphere to understand their historical situation, work and social relations.
