There is a haunted tour of downtown that starts and ends on the site of Asheville's largest mass murder. Legend has it that once the murder was found and killed, he was on display in a local funeral home for two weeks . Folks were so afraid of this man even in death that he went to the grave with more bullet holes than he had when he was brought in after his capture.

The Grove Park Inn and Spa one of the worlds most elite and famous resorts in America had the pink lady. Her identity still unknown she either fell or was pushed to her death. Its said by guests and staff alike that the pink lady is still roaming the halls of the Grove Park Inn to this very day.

Pritchard Park in downtown Asheville has become a popular hang out for the homeless using the area to meet . But then again , Pritchard Park has been a meeting place in the past also. During the Civil War the Ohio Infantry was charged with taking over Asheville while our troops were in battle elsewhere. A group of local Ashevillians met up in Pritchard Park , young and old , rich and poor and everything in between gathered there to have sort of a pep rally . Then they marched to what is now called the Botanical Gardens on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Asheville and defeated the Ohio Infantry although some of the Ohio troops did get into the city and burned down the confederate barracks in downtown where the Buncombe county courthouse stands today. It's said by downtown residence , the homeless and business owners that you can hear the Civil War rally to this day late on Saturday nights in the park . From yelling and gun shots to the sound of the hoofs of horses on the streets yet if you look the street and park will be standing empty.
