For Beginning and Financially Struggling Entrepreneurs - Don't Give Up

Many of us come from different walks of life. Some of us happen to be in a good job that pays and so we're happy with that. Some of us have good paying jobs, but are not satisfied with the life. It's like our souls are not in there.

Then there some of us who either have good paying or not-so-good paying jobs, yet don't want to be in one. But the only reason that they're in those jobs is because of Financial obligations. These things help feed our families, our credit debts, whatever. THen there's also many who are either in dangerous credit debt or are facing bankruptcy (god forbid we're in that one.)

If you can relate to the last category, you're not alone. Many people find out too late that maybe a part time job would've helped them through those bills, but the problem with a part-time job is that you only have so many hours in a day and so much energy to use. To overwork yourself would mean to put your hormones in an imbalance (and can lead to a cancerous lifestyle.)

I'm here to tell you that you can still be an entrepreneur and achieve your dreams, regardless of where you are right now. But it's also important to know the two activities in your life when you become an entrepreneur. One is to reduce debt and the other is to increase profit/income. Two different activities, make sure you don't confuse one or another.

If you are looking to start a business (whether from scratch or an MLM one) because you've decided for freedom instead of security, and at the same time you are struggling financially, make sure you have a plan in place. This is too important (I wish I had followed this simple advice.)

First off, take care of your financial debt now. If you have credit problems (and you're getting those unexpected phone calls at work or anywhere you go), work with a credit counsellor. We're all human. We either spend lavishly or we spend to support. Either way, we lose money those ways. At the same time, don't be ashamed because of where you are now. Know, accept that you are human and that you will make mistakes. It's the only way our nervous systems will ever process information and store it as a resource.

But the important thing is to take action now!

If you're able to get your financial situation under control, either through proposals, agreements or support, make sure to stick with those and have major discipline. Stay positive, even when times are painful and many things are in your face. This is one of the many important activities to wealth in all areas of life. You may lose your credit standings or financial reputations for a couple of years. But it's better to have than to not follow and have your life in a stressful crisis (and worse, lose your freedom in the process--take charge now!)

ONce everything is in control, and this could take months before it does, then pull out a sheet of paper and write down your "moving toward" dreams and goals. When I say Moving Toward, i mean things like "I will make $1 million but December 2, 2007" or anything like that. Don't write anything like "I will be out of debt by December 2, 2007." You're pretty much guaranteed to be back in debt!

Make sure to keep your job, or if you can get a better offer financially and you know that you'll enjoy it, get that one and work hard to earn their trust in you. Or get a part-time job--just do whatever it takes. Even if you've read RichDad, PoorDad, there is nothing wrong with being in the Employee quadrant. At this point, even if you are in the employee quadrant, you are training your mind to get ready for the Business/Investor quadrant.

Secondly, if you decide to go the MLM route, do your research carefully on a company that you know you will gel with. Ask questions like: How long has the company been around? How is the quality of the support system? The training system? What is their standing on the Better Business Bureau? Have they had any complaints or legal actions taken against them? Does their philosophy and values match yours? Is the company in harmony with your beliefs? How much support is there?

Once you've chosen a company, study it all you can. Learn from the business successes and see what worked for them. Not all approaches will work for you, you'll have to experiment and find which one works for you. One person may be good at talking to strangers, whereas another person would be more comfortable communicating through the internet. Choose or design an approach that clicks with you and stick with it or improve it as you go.

If you are able to afford it, buy some motivational audio from successful, peak-performance speakers like Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy. You can also borrow these things from your local library or friends. Although I don't encourage this, if you're one of the peer-to-peer people and can download these things to CD, make sure you eventually purchase the real cd once the advice from the audio has helped you achieve success. In fact, if you buy the audio cds, you have a tax write-off for your business too!

Make sure to constantly find people who are producing the results that you desire. These people can be found at free business clubs, on the internet (like the Richdad or TOny Robbins sites.) You may not be able to afford to go to the motivational/peak-performance events, but it's important to continue to feed your mind with good stuff.

As you learn to make money through your MLM business, make sure to put a portion of that into a savings account, while you use your day job to pay off your debts. At this point, you need to have an income that you can keep, even if it is small. That's better than having all of your income go straight to the liabilities and end up suffering.

Just about every MLM business has a website, where you can purchase online. The majority of them require a credit card. If this is the case and you've had to tear up your cards, consider a pre-paid credit card. It's not really a credit card, because it functions more like a bank card with credit card previleges. You just have to fill in money everytime it goes dry.

An MLM business in the health and wellness industry is a good choice, because you can always keep yourself healthy while making money. If you are not making the money yet, just purchase small in the beginning (contrary to what other MLM'ers will say--they won't know what it's like to be in your shoes.) Try out the products and when you see and feel the results, use the approach that works best for you to market the product (and make sure it follows the DSA regulations.)

So in a nutshell, use your job for a portion to your liabilities, a portion for your business expenses and a portion to your savings. Save up if you have to. Then use your MLM business for savings. Just play it smart and go with your gut feeling.
