Dirt bikes are commonly referred as trail bikes that are off-road, lightweight motorcycles built for cross country, unpaved, rough or uneven grounds. Since they are particularly designed for rough terrains, they are also outfitted with strong tires and suspension. Moreover they also possess smaller engine power than typical street motorcycles, generally less than 500cc.
Dirt bikes possess much higher suspension than street bikes, with higher ground clearance and are much lighter. As there are deep treads on the tires of dirt bikes you will get a better traction through dirt, mud, sand or gravel. To prevent ground obstructions like rocks the engine is placed on a higher level and gas tank is installed in the mid section for better balance.
There are several dirt bikes available in the market that includes some of the leading names such as, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Husqvarna, Husaberg and KTM. As these bikes are especially manufactured to be ridden on rough terrains and off-road competitions they are sturdy and light with knobby tires for maximum grip.
Racing dirt bikes is regarded as a highly popular pastime with people of all age groups.
