The web is teaming with useful sites for educators to use in their lesson. Here are a few of the sites that you can use with your classroom projector. Many of these sites come with lesson plans and quizzes for classroom teachers. Here are a few to get you started.

CNN Student News

News networks are beginning to give their services to the educational community. Networks such as CNN have developed news programs and lessons for educators and students. These tools are a great way for teachers to teach students about current and world events. Furthermore, it gets students interested in the daily news and some will begin to read the morning newspaper or watch the nightly news with their parents.

Live Web Cams

Zoos, aquariums and companies such as National Geographic have tapped into the power of web cams. They allow students to view animals hanging out at the zoo, surviving in their natural habitats, giving birth to babies and even being operated on in a clinic.

Brainpop.com

BrainPop is a popular and useful resource for elementary and secondary educators. BrainPOP is an educational site that offers short animated videos on a variety of subjects and topics.

The animated characters Tim and Mobey star in short videos about Music & Art, Science, Math, English, Social Studies, Health and Technology. The videos can be a great way to introduce or review topics. Each video has a quiz at the end that students can complete online, with paper and pencil or together as a class. BrianPOP has a variety of subscriptions offers for individuals, computer labs, schools and home schools. They add videos to their site on a regular basis and have even begun to develop BrainPOP Junior for primary aged students.

These three sites will help you teach information rich lessons in an entertaining way. Each one is user friendly and will be a welcome addition to your daily lessons.
