A true coffee lover won't be satisfied just to buy ground coffee from the market. Storing ground coffee beans for a long time will cause them to oxidize, and thus, decreasing the aroma and flavor. Freshly ground coffee beans are the best, that's why, if you are an avid coffee drinker, then you should probably consider getting a coffee grinder.

If you have a coffee grinder at home, you can just ground the amount of coffee beans that you're going to need. Freshly brewed coffee is always just a few grinding away.

Coffee grinders are one of the most common kitchen appliance found in modern households. They are just like any other electric food grinder or mixer. You won't have any problems in installing and using them.

If you're thinking of getting one of these coffee grinders for the first time, you must at least be familiar about the kinds of coffee grinders. There are two types of coffee grinders, categorized based on the kinds of blades they use in grinding coffee beans. There are the ordinary electric blades and the burr blade grinders.

When you use the ordinary electrical blades for grinding coffee beans, you might not be able to get an evenly ground product. The result is granulated beans instead of the desired powdered coffee beans.

There is also another major drawback in using these blade grinders. Ordinary electrical blade coffee grinders ground coffee beans in the range of 20 000 to 30 000 rounds per minute. That's a high speed range, and naturally, would produce much heat which damages the coffee somehow.

Burr grinders are better when compared to these ordinary electric blade grinders. Unlike ordinary blade grinders which use sharp blades to ground beans by spinning, burr grinders use two plates to ground beans. One is plate moves against a stationary one.

Burr grinders have a speed range of less than 20 000 rounds per minute. Conical burr grinders can even ground coffee with only about 500 rpm. They also give the most evenly ground beans. However, burr grinders are a lot more expensive than those ordinary blade coffee grinders.

Try shopping around different shops to find the best coffee grinder that would suit your needs and at the same time fit in your budget. There are just two things that you would need to consider. That's the speed range and the size of the granules.
