Copywriting - Destroy Writer's Block Part 2

In Part 2, we'll discuss a couple of other factors that can cause Copywriting Block.

One is perfectionism. It takes your desire to do your best... and warps it into a command to do better than your best... to be perfect.

So that when your copywriting's done, you'll win literary awards... and be praised by the masses... and all that happy shift (or shoft... or whatever).

There's one eensy teensy little problem though... that would be your current state of affairs... a blank slate with no "writing" on it.

It's a heavy burden to be saddled with... creating the perfect piece as soon as your pen hits paper... it'll make you to try to choose your words too carefully.

The result will be that you end up twisting your pen in knots... you kinda sorta end up with a mangled writing instrument.

But, hey... no problem. There's a "tool" to correct that. It's called the Perfectionism Destroyer. It unmangles the writing process. Apply this little tool by...

TURNING OFF YOUR COMPUTER MONITOR SCREEN!

Holy Smokes... Lands Sakes Alive!... Let me explain...

First, get your research together. Okay, got your research?... What! Got none?... Oops.

If you haven't done any, that'll be a slight problem... it's hard to prepare a copywriting piece on something you know squat about. You need to do some research before we can move forward.

So, we need to backtrack... and do some. How?... with a tool called the copywriting Research Destroyer.

Big name. No big deal. It's just a way to gather some needed info quickly.

To activate the Research Destroyer, simply go to Google... and enter your topic area in their search box. Pull out several key paragraphs from their the list of entries ( pull 4 or 5 key paragraphs per 500 words of copywriting you plan to do).

Using a word processor (eg. Word), paste the paragraphs into a file called "Research"...

Then, edit each paragraph into a one or two line summary sentence. As soon as you're finished, print it out, & place it by your side to refer to... it'll be your trusted companion in just a minute when you begin copywriting...

That's it... you're done... not so bad, huh?... Of course, you can "deepen" your research if you want to... that's up to you.

But even by sticking to your "quickie" research... you have 5 or so topics you can start writing about... and it took only a few minutes.

Now, open up the word processor again... place the cursor at the top of the page... and... as mentioned earlier, turn your computer monitor off (the monitor only, not the computer!).

Locate your quickie research sheet of paper... and beginning with your first topic, start typing... your copywriting has begun. Ta Da!

Type whatever your instincts are telling you to type. Just let your fingers go.

Make a mistake?... Did you just type something and need to go back & correct it? Tough. You can't! Your monitor screen is black... you can't see anything... so keep on typing.

Continue through the second topic... and third, etc. until finished.

There... your copywriting draft's done... and in record time too (you'll be endlessly amazed at how little time it took you... compared to your "normal" way of writing).

How much time did you save... at least an hour?... more? Free time. Go ahead & Party. Ahh, on second thought...

With all the time you saved, turn on your monitor screen and "clean up" the copywriting you just wrote. The editing will go quickly as well... and that's good... the masses are eagerly waiting.... rumor has it they're starting to chant your name.

If you really... really want to impress them, while you're editing put the "crowning touch" on your copywriting by running it through Glyphius... http://www.plentyofchange.com/recommends/Glyphius. I mentioned this superior software in Copywriting -- Banish Writer's Block -- Part 1. Go back and take a look at it if you like. It'll a great little tool to help you locate weak words & phrases in your copy.

There's an additional software you need to get your hot little hands on as soon as you can. It's called KaizenTrack... http://www.plentyofchange.com/recommends/KaizenTrack. This one really removes the pimples from your forehead and the sweat off your back.

How so? It let's you create to your heart's content without worry. It'll yank poorly performing sections of copy... and replace them with your better performing ones. In no time, it'll have your copy pulling superbly.

How dumbed down is that? You do diddly... this software "pulls together" your best copy for you! You basically sit on your butt while it does its thing. It's the Lazy Man's way to Great Copywriting.

Feel free to contact me when you begin working with this tool... I'll be happy to give you some tips and pointers on it.

Well... that's it. Use these articles... Copywriting -- Banish Writer's Block -- Part 1. ... and Copywriting -- Destroy Writer's Block -- Part 2.. to rev up your copywriting productivity.
