When you are looking to swing your golf club better to bring down your golf score, you may need to decide whether your golf swing improvement quest should be achieved with the help of a professional or should you muck it out on your own with tutorials and step-by-step instructions. Of course, you can try and tap the golf instructor at your local country club for help but he can only do so much and you will need follow up instructions from other avenues to really help you progress with how you swing your golf club.

Improving how you play your game always starts with the swing. Knowing how to properly swing your club to hit your ball the right way and to drive it down the fairway in the right direction can easily help shave off lots of strokes from your golf score. A coach can give you pointers on how to start off with the right swing and this includes your stance, your grip and the four basic steps for hitting the ball. After this initial instruction, you will then find that your own style of hitting the ball and your swinging power is all yours to harness and improve on.

Golf swing improvement can be done with a few exercises and drills that you can do without really having to try and drive the ball down the fairway. These drills have something to do with posture and form and are actually pretty easy to do. When you do these drills, you are incorporating feeling into your movement. This means that you will be feeling how it is when you swing your body with your club when you hit the ball.

The first drill involves using one of your long irons and placing it behind you, over your shoulder and across your back. Place the club face of this club under your right arm while your left hand grips the other end. Stand with your feet apart and in the right stance for hitting the ball and with your hand kept at the same level as it is over your shoulder, pull the club forward. You will feel that you moved correctly with this exercise if you find that your left shoulder is now over the right side of your left knee.

The next exercise that can provide you with golf swing improvement is an exercise that requires you to place both your hands in your pants pockets. This exercise is designed for you to feel the swing with your body even without your club or your hands moving. Practice how you would properly swing your club without using your hands by imagining yourself doing so except with your hands in your pocket. You will feel how your body rotates and how your legs and feet move when you do your swing this way. You can also easily correct certain mistakes in your stance and your movements with this exercise. In time, you will find your swing improving after doing these two exercises over and over again and this without getting more help from the resident golf coach at your country club too.
