Every few months there seems to be a new diet fad. Stop eating carbohydrates and lose ten pounds in a week! Eat only edamame and certain types of cheese and the fat will evaporate from your body! These short-lived diets come and go so quickly, you never know if they work or not because the moment you start one, the magazines are already promoting the next fad diet. It can be frustrating to follow these fads because you never stick long enough with one plan to see any results. The truth of the matter is there is only one time-tested way to stay healthy: eat nutritiously, exercise frequently, and stick to good hygiene!

In order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. The math is incredibly simple: if you subtract the number of calories you consumed from the number of calories you burned, you should have a positive number. If you aim for this result everyday, then you are off to a great start! Nothing feels more satisfying then going to the gym, working hard, and enjoying a long hot shower afterward. In order to get the most out of your exercise routine, you need to balance your time between the cardio machines and lifting weights. In order to burn off that fat more quickly, you need to build up muscle as well!

Good nutrition is that other side of the equation. As delicious as french fries, brownies, and ice cream are, they do your body no good. The amount of nutrients they carry are almost non-existent and one bite gives you more calories then one bite of anything should! Stick to those fruits and vegetables and you should be on the right track.

The last step to a healthy lifestyle is good hygiene. You need to take a shower or a bath at least once a day to get rid of the dirt and grime that accumulates over the course of 24 hours. Washing and cutting your hair, trimming your nails, and brushing your teeth twice a day are very important and basic hygiene practices everyone needs to adhere to in order to stay healthy! Follow these simple practices and you will be feeling younger and healthier in no time.
