The LG-KU990 marketed as the LG Viewty was released by LG in the UK in October 2007. There has yet to be any information regarding its release in the United States. With these features alone, the phone could likely be used for a business person during their travels. As more manufacturers like LG include MS Office viewers on their phones making them close to the capability of a Smartphone, the more sales they will generate from the commercial customer.

During the first five weeks after the LG Viewty was released it generated sales of 410,000 in Europe. It was also suggested by a UK mobile phone retailer that it may even outsell the iPhone in that region though Apple was reluctant to publish data to support or deny those claims. Whether the claims are valid or not is unknown but the fact that so many units were sold during the first five weeks following the phone's release shows that it has the potential to be a top seller throughout Europe.
