Find Acupressure Academy Programs in the United States and Canada. Enrolling in an acupressure academy opens a world of possibilities to an ancient but effective healing art. And as natural healthcare services are on the rise, students who pursue a natural healing education are taking dynamic steps to both personal and professional success.

Once you've entered an acupressure academy you discover a new way of thinking.  In addition to learning about Eastern healing methods, students attending an acupressure academy gain hands-on instruction in acupressure/Shiatsu, Chinese medical massage (Tuina), hydrotherapy, and hot/cold therapies.  Base studies include Chinese medicine and Western medicine theories, anatomy, physiology, pathology, hygiene; business practice, ethics and law; and sometimes, basic CPR and first aid.

Depending on the acupressure academy in which you enroll, curricula may vary, as well as training hours.  In a number of healing arts schools, barefoot acupressure (Ashiatsu) is taught alongside foundational education.  Other electives that are commonly offered through an acupressure academy may include but are not limited to aromatherapy massage, Chinese herbal remedies, reflexology, and essential oils, among other continuing education classes.

Furthermore, it is always wise to review course requirements and independent State regulations with regard to becoming a licensed massage therapist.  While an acupressure academy may provide certification training in acupressure, programs may not always meet necessary credentials for licensure or National certification.  In some cases, acupressure training is combined with standard massage therapy instruction (including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and sports massage), and if training meets the minimum of  500 hours, graduates may be eligible for National certification and/or licensure.

Candidates that have successfully completed a certification course at an acupressure academy will have acquired the skills and training necessary to competently administer acupressure massage to clients.  Based on the theory of acupuncture, acupressure is administered through firm but gentle touch using the hands, elbows and fingers on key meridian (energy channel) locations. By restoring the "Chi" (energy flow) through acupressure therapy, balance can be achieved throughout the body and bring relief to dis-ease and other common health conditions.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding acupressure academy programs, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.
