Getting Ready for Labor: What to Pack in the Hospital Bag

Congrats! You are pregnant and anxiously awaiting to hold your baby in your arms. You are probaly wondering what to pack into your hospital bag as your labor approaches. Here is a helpful checklist of the basic necessities.

Your Hospital Bag Checklist

? Insurance Card and Your Birth Plan if you have one

? Nursing Bras and Nursing Pads (Whether or not you plan to nurse) these are essential for support and leak-protection

? Underwear, ones that you do not care if you get blood or body fluid on

? A Comfy Bathrobe

? Lip Balm (My lips were very dry during labor)

? Hair Scrunchie

?  Basic Toiletries Essentials- Your Hairbrush, Toothpaste and Toothbrush, Deoderant, Makeup, Shampoo and Conditioner, Contact Lens Case and Solution or Eyeglasses if you wear them

? Hairdryer

? Bath Towel, hospital towels are generally very thin

? Phone List of everyone to call once your baby is born, cell phone and charger or a calling card if your hospital will not permit a cell phone (most do not!!)

? Change for the Vending Machines

? Breast pump and Nursing Cover

? Camera, Camcorder, Chargers

? Baby's going home outfit, receiving blanket, extra blankets, pacifiers, formula if you decide not to breastfeed.

? Carseat

? A cute, going home outfit for  pictures, cute comfy sweats will do just fine!
