The importance of writing effective sales copy that will generate sales is simply learning how to write persuasive words specifically written for your targeted customer. You must feel your customers needs and write your copy with passion, excitement and benefit.

It's time for you to add a mind blowing sales letter to your web site. If you get this right you can make an absolute killing on the internet. Get it wrong and you will fail.

Writing Your Own Sales Letter

The Basics

Your sales letter doesnt have to be brightly coloured or filled with beautiful pictures. In fact it is better for both yourself and the customer if it is not.

Simple black text is all you need. If however you feel you would make more sales from fancy colouring then you can always test the water. One week test your site with simple black text, then the next your coloured text. Then see whether or not there was a marked difference in sales. I assure you though; this will not be the case.

You Do Not Have To Be Grammatically Correct

In all types of marketing the customer must feel as though they are being spoken to personally. They must feel as though the focus is solely on them. Your sales letter should read the way you speak. It must have a human touch to it. This way it will have a more engaging affect on the reader.

Whilst grammar can be overlooked, spelling mistakes cannot. Take extra care in checking your spelling throughout your sales letter. A spell check is part and parcel of most PC programs now so be sure to use it. Mistakes can draw the attention of the reader away from the selling points of your copy. This can only have an adverse affect on sales.

Focus Solely On The Customer

Include only what is crucial to the customer. As I have said the customer will only be thinking whats in it for me. They will be uninterested in anything you have to say that doesnt concern them directly.

There is no need to include all the features of your product either. Obviously ensure the customer knows what it is they are buying, but there is no need to constantly mention all the features of your product. You are trying to make a sale so keep features to a minimum, benefits to a maximum.

Remember . The customer will be interested in only what is beneficial to them. Nothing else will be of significance.

The Most Important Part Of Your Sales Letter THE HEADLINE!

This is without doubt the most important stage in the whole of your sales letter. It single handedly decides whether or not you will get your sales letter read. And if people don't read your sales letter, you won't make a sale. It really is as simple as that!

Successful headlines always must include the biggest benefit/benefits of your product. It must be packed with killer benefits that FORCE the reader to read on in order to find out exactly how you're going to provide them with this benefit.

In order to do this you must use Power Words to emphasize your benefit in the strongest possible way.Incorporate some of these words into your headline and you'll be adding power to it:

Amazing
Now
Announcing
Only
Breakthrough
People
Easy
Quick
Guaranteed
Save
YOU
Bargain
Reasons Why
Your
Simple

If you incorporate these power words with a promise of a benefit your headline will be extremely compelling to the reader. You can promise a benefit by using enticing Action Words such as:

How To.
How To Change.
How To Become.
Why You Must.
Increase Your.
Decrease Your.

These all have a very powerful affect on the reader. They will jump out of the text at them. When used correctly a power word is an ingenious marketing tool. The key to a successful marketing strategy is pressing all the right emotive buttons of your customers, and power words are very effective in doing this.

Make sure that your headline flows. It must easily roll off the tongue of the reader. If it is anyway complicated to read the impact will be lost. I cannot reiterate this point enough. IMPACT IMPACT IMPACT. If your headline has this, you're a step closer to a sale already.

Your headline should incorporate the BIGGEST benefit reader will get when they read your sales message. Your sub headline must be the second BIGGEST benefit the reader will get when they read your sales message.

Create A Problem For The Reader

Near the very beginning of your sales letter you need to create a problem for the reader and show that you understand their problem. This should be easy to do if you have done your research as I showed you to. You should know the exact problems your target market has.

The key here is to generate enough interest, but not to give away too much about your offer. Intrigue will propel the reader through your sales message.

Tell A Story

So now you've hooked your reader in with a great headline and sub header, and a powerful understanding first paragraph. Next up you must make things even more personal by telling a story.

Tell the story of how you came about to realise that there was a need for your product or service. Incorporate how you came across the problem and
solved it. And then realised that there were "a ton of people out there just like me" who would need that problem solved too. By telling a story you:

- Help readers relate to you and show them why you understand their situation

- Make the story easier to read rather than a "heavy" letter

- You can also use the story to explain why you're offering your product so cheaply.

- Use a story near the beginning of your sales letter to make it compelling for the reader.

- Present A Solution To The Readers Problem (Answer Their Questions Of "Whats In It For Me?")

So far you should have created a problem, gained the readers trust and showed them that you understand their problem. Next you must show the readers that you can provide them with a solution to their problem - quickly and easily. If they think your solution will take weeks and months they'll be less likely to make a purchase.

An INSTANT solution is what they'll be looking for. So make sure they know that purchasing your product will provide them with this.

You don't neccesarily have to explain exactly HOW your offer is a solution. But you should state that it IS the solution. Bullet points are a great way to do this.

Benefits, benefits and more benefits!

Next up you need to launch into a list of the benefits and features of your product. Here you should really start explaining how your product will solve the readers' problem.

You should be highlighting benefits throughout the sales letter. But here's where you must really start piling them on. You need to start creating real value for your product now and be pushing the reader towards the sale. If you can provide honest and high quality benefits you really can include as many as you've got.

Pile On Incentives And Bonuses

By this point if you have created your sales letter properly your reader will be convinced of the value of your product. But still may need a little convincing that your product is for them.

So to sway a "maybe" into a "definately" you need to include bonus items and incentives in your offer. You want to show your customer that your bonuses add up to more than they are paying for the ebook itself. That way you can only calm any uneasyness they may feel about purchasing your product.

Use Past Customer Comments To Your Advantage

Using past customer comments and reviews is also a very good way of reassuring a potential customer. When first starting your business this will be a problem. But over time, providing you have done just as you have been taught you will receive positive comments from past sales you have made.

Always include these. They will have a major effect of bringing it home to the customer that they too can benefit from.Ensure The Customer Knows That They will Lose Out Should They Choose To Reject Your Product

Throughout Your sales copy you shall be drumming home the benefits should the customer invest in your product. In effect you will be telling them that what you have to offer is the key to improving their current lifestyle. You are showing them the pro's of your merchandise.

However at the end of your letter you must drum home an altogether different message. The customer must understand that they shall lose out if they don't act upon your letter at once. They should feel a necessity to purchase your product straight away. There are two way's to do this.

Firstly by offering the customer a discount should they place their order before a certain time/day. We all like to think that we are getting a bargain don't we.

The second way is by using emotion. Emotion is a very strong element in marketing. Used correctly it can be a perfect way to clinch a deal.

Here are a few more ways in which you can try to elicit an immediate
response from your customers:

Limited quantity Price increase in a matter of days Limited places available

Pre-Publication - in other words they are receiving the product before it becomes available to a much wider market. In essence they will be ahead of the pack. The majority of your sales will be made as soon as the customer finishes reading your sales letter. If he/she feels they do not have to act immediately chances are you'll lose the sale.

Your Guarantee

You must offer a guarantee. This elicits trust from your customer and this is vital when trying to make a sale. Providing you are offering a quality product your refunds should not exceed 4%. Even the best product on the planet could receive 4% returns. It's a simple fact that you cannot please everybody. Ideally your guarantee should be no less then 30 days.

Ask For The Order

By now you should have built up enough excitement, trust and value that your customer is itching to purchase your ebook. So why do so many people fail to actually ask for the order? People fail because they don't just outright ask the customer to buy.

Your P.S

Your P.S is incredibly important. People who "scan" your sales letter will read your headline, sub header, your bullet points and find the price. The p.s is then the last thing they see before deciding whether or not they should read the letter in full. Get all of these right and you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Studies show that your P.S is the second most read part of your letter after the headline. So you've got to make sure that it is incredibly powerful in putting across your offer in the most appealing way. And there we have it.

There's all the information you need about how to write a great sales letter

So please, please just give this a try. What have you got to lose? Nothing. What have you got to gain? EVERYTHING!
