For those who miss the play Vanities, you can now get tickets to Vanities the musical and see the story of cheerleaders-turned-sorority-girls-turned-adults from the original production. The three-woman production pivots around three women as they mature during tumultuous times in American history. The three characters are Mary, the wild one; Joanne, the ditzy one and Kathy, the organized one. The first act takes place while the girls are in high school. The three beauties are all cheerleaders who can't seem to think about anything but the next pep rally. Their self-centeredness is interrupted by the announcement that JFK has been assassinated.

The next act picks up at a sorority house with the three about to graduate college. All are voicing their hopes, dreams and uncertainties about the future as well as their annoyance at all of the protests going on. The last act features the three as grown women at Kathy's apartment. They seem to have all gone their separate directions, but one haunting secret has them fatefully tied to one another. Find out more with your own Vanities tickets.

Jack Heifner wrote the original play, which was on stage from 1976-1981 and ran Off-Broadway for some 1,785 performances. It has been recreated around the world with different casts like an all-African American cast and a cast of drag queens. Heifner has written numerous other plays including Home Fires and China Dolls. Davis Kirshenbaum came in for the new production to write the music and the lyrics. His other productions include Summer of '42 and Party Come Here.

Lauren Kennedy plays Mary and is no stranger to stage with Broadway credits like Monty Python's Spamalot, Les Miserables and Sunset Boulevard. Sarah Stiles plays Joanne and was most recently seen in the Tony Award-winning show Avenue Q. She has been on Broadway before Avenue Q in The 25th Annual Putnam Co. Spelling Bee. Anneliese Van Der Pol just finished her Broadway debut as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. She is recognizable from her long run on the Disney Channel in That's So Raven. The three young stars carry the entire production and stay on stage even through most of the set changes.

Vanities is not only a coming-of-age story but also a commentary on the difficulties of friendship and the indifference of some citizens to the turmoil of society. The three girls are so focused on their own lives they cannot be bothered with things like the death of a president or civil rights.
