If you look carefully in life, you will find that most of your procrastination is the result of deluding yourself.

Procrastinators often choose to deny reality and refuse to accept responsibility for their lives.

Therefore to truly eliminate procrastination, we must be willingly to stop all blaming games. And the fact is you cannot possible aim to overcome procrastination until you accept that you are truly 100% responsible for the things you have or lack of in life.

Well, it may be true that this may be more honesty than many people are capable of handling. However, I really cannot think of other ways where one can possibly achieve a richer life.

If you are really serious about eliminating procrastination, your willingness to recognize procrastination as a problem is a must.

Like all of us, procrastinators also have problems of their own, regardless whether they are big or small.

However what's different is that for them, most of their problems are caused by them procrastinating in doing what is necessary.

Procrastinators share certain traits:

* They know about a problem and know of a way to solve them. However in many cases they choose of find themselves valid "reasons" to avoid doing so.

* They are making empty promises that they will do something about the problem in the future. Their favorite phrase, "Tomorrow it will be done!", whereas the tomorrow never comes.

* They delude themselves by thinking and claiming that they would have finished the job or complete the task if not for something that happens.Often procrastinators like to make performance of the job dependent on something else thus they can then "justify" why they continuously delay actions.

Now do you happen to share any of the above traits? Don't worry if you do for I believe we all tend to fall into such un-resourceful habits once in a while.

Now even so, that doesn't justify why you shouldn't be taking any actions in trying to replace those un-resourceful habits with resourceful ones.

In fact, research has shown that you can actually develop new habits in just two weeks if you're serious about changing!

Start thinking about people you know who always get things done. What type of work habits can you model? What mentality or essential skills do they have to aid them in completing unappealing tasks? Also, how do they stay focused in completing them?

Stand on the shoulders of your friends or of the giants to help you transcend from where you are to places where you want to be.

Be teachable and learn from them.

Now here are some simple tricks that you can use to help you in taking charge of your life today.

* Mentally prepare yourself to be productive. If possible, try to begin your day in prayer or meditation.

* You may also want to consider keeping some inspirational messages handy so that you can take a look at them when you are down or feel like procrastinating.

* Visualizing my successes during the day also greatly help me in defeating procrastination. Through visualization, you will be able to see in your mind's eyes the things you have accomplished and the sense of accomplishing after completing those unappealing tasks.

* Tackle the hardest and most tedious job first. After those unappealing tasks, completing the rest of the tasks at hand should be a breeze.

* Identify the time of the day when you are most productive. Personally, I find myself accomplishing more work in the morning and less focused in the afternoon. Therefore, I will tend to schedule my time to accomplish my harder jobs in the morning.

* Now this may sound a bit harsh but most of the time, we often tend to spend too much time socializing at work then doing other more important stuffs. Try to cut down on chit chat and gossip. In this way, you will find that you will have more time for the jobs at hand.

* If possible, try to redesign your work place so that you can eliminate those things that tend to distract you from your work. Put up a sign at your workplace to remind others that you do not want to be disturbed.

Once again, I will like to remind you that we are really not the victims of our circumstances, unless we choose to be.

You can overcome procrastination now! You can do the things that need to be done and you can learn to distinguish between the things that need to be done now and the things that can wait.

Master all these skills and you will find that success will come to you in a much faster speed than before.

Success To You! =D
