Fluconazole/diflucan is a potent anti-fungal drug that is frequently used to treat yeast infections. Now available in a one-time dose, it has many benefits and many side effects.

When used to treat yeast infections, which are thrush or candidiasis, it is the most prescribed medication. It will either rid the body of the yeast or keep it under control. People with immune system weaknesses are prone to yeast and other infections. Diflucan is the usual drug of choice.

Treating yeast infections with diflucan (diflucan yeast infection) has proven to be very effective. Yeast infections can occur on finger and toe nails or any other surface of the body. Thrush is found in the mouth and candidiasis is a vaginal infection. By altering the cell membrane of the yeast, it kills it and restores the system to a healthier state.

Many people are plagued by yeast infections. They can cause discomfort with itching, cosmetically unpleasant and can turn nails yellow. None of these is a pleasant condition to have to deal with. That is primarily why diflucan is such a popular prescription drug.

It is a very potent prescription strength anti-fungal drug. It is potentially able to cure very severe yeast infections. When taken it will kill all of the yeast in the body, both internally and externally. It was approved in the United States as a generic in 2000.

It does however have many serious side effects. There have been reports of kidney damage, liver damage, nausea, vomiting and severe abdominal pain. These are just a few of the many negative side effects that are associated with the administration of diflucan.

Before considering taking this medication without a prescription, you need to educate yourself as to the potential side effects. First of all, it can only be administered as a prescription. If you purchase it online without a prescription, you can never be sure of exactly what you will be receiving. Careful quality control is necessary in the production of this drug to insure proper dosage. Discussion with your health care provider is essential for safe administration of diflucan.

Administration can be a one-time thing. That fact has made it a convenient medication for people who are prone to yeast infections. This includes but is not limited to people with diabetes mellitus who are not in control of their disease, patients with compromised immune systems such as patients with HIV. Often these patients will have recurring yeast infections and the ease of taking a pill one time is far more convenient than a weekly regimen.

It can also be administered in liquid form or intravenously. This would be for extreme circumstances and not a common method of prescription.

Before taking any medication, you should discuss the potential benefits and side effects with your doctor. Being educated as to both the positive and negative effects of the drug will improve your chances of recovery and make you aware of the possible side effects that you should be alerted to. Do not take chances with your health. Take this as a prescribed medication only.
