Metropolis is one movie that has got praise by critics worldwide. It has a certain charm about it because of its unique style not found in many modern day films. It has some awesome credentials with animations done by Mad House.

The story of the movie is set in alternate future. The city of Metropolis, built by robots is filled with a diverse population. To give you an idea of the lifestyle of the people in terms of technology and comforts, let me describe one of the scenes from the movie. It opens with a scene of this bustling city as a loud speaker announces Metropolis as a leader in culture and technology. To celebrate the occasion and to commemorate the moment, a giant tower is constructed in the heart of the city named, Ziggurat. This event has attracted people from all over the city. Among the crowd is Detective Shunsaku Ban and Kenichi, his nephew. They are here to search for and arrest a scientist who is wanted in Japan for violating human-rights. Being new in the city he asks for help from the local authority and gets Pero, a robot programmed for investigation, to assist him.

While Detective Dan searches for the scientist another plan is brewing up simultaneously. Duke Red, a wealthy getabout has commissioned the same scientist to make a robot called Tima, for his evil intentions, who is almost perfectly human.

There is a lot of interest generated in the movie with its future setting and technological advancements. A movie strongly recommended for those in need of a fresh concept.
