A good percentage of people were asked the reason why they are not visited the dentist as often as possible is because they are running out of time, they seem to have too many activities throughout the day to be able to pick up the phone and get in touch with their dentist.  This may be understandable to a certain degree but, are you really willing to put your job and daily activities before your aesthetic appearance, your health and even life?

Most of the people who have pink and healthy gums may admit that it wasn't always that way and that a visit to the dentist turned things around for them.  A very common sign which indicates that a person is suffering from periodontal disease is gum bleeding, some dentists have grown increasingly concerned about gum bleeding and have developed certain programs and strategies to help get things under control.

To find out whether or not a person is vulnerable to a serious disease dentist and have started to run a series of blood tests in their office.  The three things that bloody gums raise in blood chemistry that dentists know of are cholesterol, high blood sugar and C-reactive protein which is a better and more accurate indicator of a future heart attack or stroke than high cholesterol.

If the test results are not good dentists will urge their patients to see the doctor, the decisions are able to diagnose high risk of stroke, diabetes, pre-diabetes and in some cases cancer.

Patients are also encouraged to follow a special at home dental hygiene program and take anti-inflammatory nutrition supplements.  According to dentists there is not a single magic bullet in order to successfully treat a specific condition such as periodontal disease, only after putting all the pieces of the puzzle together dentists and doctors are able to better diagnose their patient's condition and come up with a more effective treatment.

Dentists have also said that some of their patients have approached them in order to have a cosmetic procedure done and the tests that are performed prior to any moderate cosmetic intervention have been able to save the lives of the patients who originally got in touch with their dentist in order to improve their aesthetic appearance.  Oral health and overall health go hand-in-hand so making some time in your busy schedule to get a regular checkup may be effective enough to save your life improve your appearance and keep you in business.
