Implementing Your Marketing

Far too often I have seen companies who put all of this time and attention into researching and designing their advertising, but when it comes time to actually implement the marketing they are not exactly sure how to go about it.

This usually leads to a hastily put together marketing push that does not have the desired impact. And what ends up happening is that the marketing itself is considered the problem, and not the way it was handled. If the companied decided to print posters, but did not properly handle implanting them, they might end up thinking that posters just are not for them, even though this might not be the case.

I think posters are a very good example here because the implementation of posters is one of the most important parts of a good poster push.

A poster needs to accomplish three primary things: grab a person's attention, catch their interest, and direct them towards the course of action you want. The first step can be accomplished no matter where your poster happens to be. If you have a strong enough design to your posters than no matter where you put that poster up odds are good people are going to look at it.

But if your poster is not in the right locations to target your customer base, you will not be able to generate much interest, because it is not dealing with anything the people are going to naturally have much interest in. Sure, you got their attention, but once you had it you could not keep it because they were not the right audience.

From the very beginning of any marketing push you should be considering how you are going to implement it. If you know you plan to print posters than when you start researching what to put on your posters you need to also start researching what the best places will be to put them up.

This will go for postcards, brochures, or flyers as well. How are you supposed to be successful if you do not know of a good way of getting them to your customers? Even the best marketing push around will not mean much if it is being direct at the wrong kind of people.

If you are not entirely sure on how you are supposed to implement a certain type of marketing than you might want to look at other companies who you know had success with them. See what they did and how well it worked, and then figure out the best way to use this knowledge to your advantage.

There is no reason to shun color posters just because you had a bad experience in the past when you tried to print posters yourself. Take a good long look at the way you implemented things before you write off a certain form of marketing.
