Breast Enlargement - on the Increase
A study released on Thursday on the topic of breast enlargement surgery showed that the procedure has become much more popular in the last 5 years, 3 times as popular in fact.
One of the largest ever surveys in this area (performed by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons), the results indicated that members had carried out an astonishing 6,500 breast enlargements in 2007, compared to a much smaller figure of 2,400 in 2002 (figures rounded to nearest hundred).
The reason for this increase seems to be partly due to society accepting cosmetic surgery as part of everyday life and an increase in the confidence of the general public in relation to these procedures. The latter of the two reasons comes from the improvements in cosmetic surgery procedures and the media coverage of the advancements in the techniques used and in relation to the minimal scarring now seen with these procedures.
There was always a common perception that breast augmentation was only an option for the rich and famous who could afford the staggeringly high prices. This is no longer the case as the prices have dropped because the procedures have become more common place and well trialled and tested. As with anything, the longer a product or service is in existence the lower the price gets.
Breast enlargement can now be carried out using minute incisions under the breast and the scarring is therefore minimal and recovery time much quicker. Add to this the fact that the implants and surgical grade silicon contained in them are now very safe and you have an option that can be safe and effective if you utilise a qualified and experienced surgeon.
Procedures such as breast enlargement surgery (sometimes referred to as breast augmentation) should be carried out by an accredited surgeon to ensure they run smoothly - this is important with any type of cosmetic surgery procedure.
